Easy parking at Burnside Hall, Balmullo, taking this in as part of a 7 mile Circular walk. Easy going along tarmac, farm tracks up the hill through woodland paths and heather. The weather was kind today, so good 360' views. Trig in good condition, sitting not far from the MOD mast.

Parked NO423214 (layby) and access to hill. At gate NO 4203 2157, direct to trig over short bilberry. heather and gorse - not hard. Return via lovely path E/NE to wood edge. Had to climb wall/fence to return to car. Route from north therefore probably very pleasant but it seems parking is difficult.

Agree lots of routes but no parking. The quarry road has more craters than road left and is a very interesting (NOT) drive. Ended up in girl guide centre car park, very quiet today. Then up the road to the end, and took a left hand path in the direction of the trigpoint picking up a few geocaches on the way. Myriad of paths in these woods not shown on any maps.

Quarry has spared the summit, but a particularly foul mobile phone mast is now next to the moorland top. Parked by some llamas and walked in through a very Derbyshire like landscape of old cottages now extended and showing other symptoms of a servere outbreak of money. Relief to get into the woodland. This is obviously a popular walking area and is full of wildlife, roe deer, woodcock and any number of different singing thrushes - rainforest noisy. The AWACS was even noisier. Only trig of today without partridges. Pillar intact next to a summit cairn made of brick. (tidying up old quarry/communications building) Views to Dundee and St Andrews.
