Walk up from Inverkeithing train station. Head west along Hill Street before crossing main road and then straight on up Lothians View. Up to the small group of houses and trig in field behind. Unable to find access due to high fencing but is visible.

Park to the S then around the field to the fenced compound, I started walking round looking for a gap, to my surprise the far NW corner has been hit possibly by a tractor and the concrete fence post is smashed and there is a large hole! (See image) from there along round the reservoir and up the steps. Pillar in good condition, some great views along the river.

Easy to locate across harvested field. Behind large fence on top of wall between two masks. Lovely views further afield to Rosyth Naval base and across to the Bridges on the Forth.

The hole in the NW corner of the fence has been fixed . . . but the fence is hanging down and the barbed with is broken at the top. So can be easily climbed.

Drove all the way to the houses at the top. Plenty of parking. Set off clockwise around the perimeter fence to the NW corner but the fence has been fixed. No holes. Easily photographed pillar at SW corner but FB faced inward so couldn’t see the number. Great viewpoint though.

Only trig on a 15 mile bridges run with Master QB. Didn't find the hole in the fence unfortunately.

Parking beside reservoir if you can find the road as the new bridge has made a lot of changes to the layout. Walk round perimeter, step through fence gap past pillar and quick ascent.( No fosbury flop needed). Extensive views

Log #411. Parked to south, followed perimeter of fence. BSM-style FB, lightly indented cap intact, and overall condition very good, as you'd expect. Saw some tugs pulling a Type 45 (HMS Dragon?) out under the new Q'ferry Crossing. [ExP-282/MiP-34/Rev-6/BM-27/IS-43/Other-19]

Easy find, viewed from perimeter of fence so didn't access condition or flash bracket close up. Didn't try to enter although walked around perimeter. Good views over Firth and surrounding areas.

Having read previous logs and after a walk around the perimeter in the very muddy field I went for it and managed to hug the trig, felt very pleased with myself until later that evening on my gin cruise wearing top to toe mud all down the back of my trousers as I was too late to change due to trig bagging activities and traffic on the bridge!

Could have easily entered the reservoir through a damaged section of the fence but thought better of it. The fence is obviously there for a reason and quite happy with the view I got.

Called here en route to Livingston 1-1 Stranraer (Livi won on penalties). I received a penalty in the form of traffic chaos at the Forth Road Bridge after the match - nearly two hours to drive three miles. Remained calm buoyed by memories of the beautiful game, and the conquest of pillar no: s3239 which entailed a 'Fosbury Flop' over the reservoir fence to reach the prize. Cap in place, one sight hole open.

From the nearest point outside the fence to the pillar is around 14m. Pillar looks in good condition. Couldn't see any metalwork or sightholes due to long grass. The NW corner of the fence looks scalable due to a slump in the lower-half. However, decided to not set a bad example to the accompanying child...Good views from the hill though especially west along the firth.

Built 29th April 1944. Secondary station in Block NT18, Dunfermline. Pillar VGC. Spider retains original OS centre plug with shallow engraved lettering. BSM flush bracket faces east. LHS sighting hole open, others plugged. On top of covered resr, site should be secure but much of the perimeter fence to the NW of the compound has been torn down. Views to Hill of Beath, East Lomond, Pilkham Hills, North Berwick Law, Skid Hill, Arthurs Seat, Blackford Hill, Allermuir Hill, Scald Law, West Cairn Hill, Tinto, Binny Craig, Cocklerue Hill, Ben Ledi, Dumyat, Ben Cleugh, Knock Hill, Dumglow. Original visit 1985, revisited and photographed 20/05/2004, GRP. Most recently revisited 14/02/2007; perimeter fence repaired but not secured at ground level.

Its not just the gate, I walked through a piece of fence torn down by local neds. Good view over Rosyth and across the Forth. Pillar in good condition perched on the edge of a covered reservoir. "BSM" type.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 29th April 1944 costing £4.16s.3d. In 1946 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT18/11 in the Dunfermline block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1948. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in July 1983. On top of covered resr. Surrounding chain link fence was rusting away. Appears to have since been rewired. Large tanks may be disused. Good view of the Forth Bridges.
