Nice easy roadside trig. Parked virtually next to it as the road wasn’t busy today. Slightly in farmers field but almost open so easy to get to. Trig and flush bracket previously painted however not much remaining.

Very busy road. I parked in a layby at the edge of a wood. A footpath that leads down the side of the wood and look left down the side of the field. Trig is in the hedge about 100 yards. The Electric fence wasn't working so climbed over.

(341) Visited whilst en route to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We pulled up in the good lay-by to the south, and nipped through the gate to the rough track and then stumbled through nettles and down the ditch and then into the trig field. To avoid trampling the ripe wheat, we stuck to the scrubby boundary which cost us a lot of nettle stings and bramble jabs. The pillar is a fair way along, and it took a few minutes to reach. It's in good, weathered condition with a full set of metalwork. After a few photos, we quickly realised that a few yards north of the pillar, the field gate affords far, far easier access and there is a wide verge to walk down back to the lay-by... ah well. Pillar #94 for DD.

Park in the layby on Strip Road, walk into the wooded area and bear left. Jump over the ditch dug round the field boundary and then follow the field along side the road. Our third "A1" bag on the way down to Peterborough Beer Festival. Parked in Layby and a horrible walk along busy litter strewn road. I clambered through the trees and struggled along the field edge to get to the pillar. There's actually a gate a few yards further along so I left the field over that and mused at the variety of trash that people throw out of cars windows these days. beer at The Ship in Bawtry afterwards.

(336) My first Yorkshire Pillar. Parked up in the layby down the B6463 and walked the short distance to the trig. Situated inside the field, but readily accessible from the road. Weathered patchy coat of white paint, but otherwise it's all good. Pillar history: Built on the 9th of May 1938, at a cost of £4 5s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 1985.

One of those mornings when it is a pleasure to be alive. Bagged this one at last! Lovely spot really, layby for parking, but it took me two goes to do it. N of layby a then N up field edge to a trig that is in good condition original plug. Doncaster doesn't have many trigs. This is lovely.

Field side trig.in pretty good knick close to gate entrance. Parked in layby by wood which has permitted access so had a stroll round, though the shotgun blasts from down the hill sounded a lot closer than they were, and made it a little scary.. Off to the Keepmoat for FA Cup game against Stoke City.

Remarkably unremarkable !! Parked on Doncaster Rd / A60 in Tickhill then followed Common Ln out of Tickhill and across the A1(M). Took well signed PROW across fields to Sheepwash Ln (track) and then followed this SE to the B6463 Stripe Rd. BEWARE - Stripe Rd is rather busy with fast moving traffic. Fortunately for you drive-by triggers there is a rather convenient layby at the N end of Sawney Hill Wood. From here there is a very handy gate immediately at the NW corner of the woods which permits easy access into the field. The pillar is then located amongst the bracken a little further NE along the edge of this field. Pillar is in good nick with original metal cap and indented lettering although it's white coat is now peeling somewhat. Could only confirm the sighthole on the face with the FB is open as I didn't fancy messing around amongst the wet bracken !! Quite unremarkable views E across fields to some pleasing autumn colours in nearby Bawtry Forest. All other views restricted by trees / hedge lines. Left NE, exiting the field via another gate for a hairy walk along Stripe Rd to Rossington. Returned to Tickhill via Hunster Flat Ln (track), Stancil and Wellingley Ln.

A joint visit with Carole. A Saturday morning pre-dawn visit meant that it was easy to park on the road almost next to it. The pillar is in good condition and still retains an original plug. Too dark to know what was arround us.

I did as the last visitor suggested and parked in the rough lay-by just south, then walked inside the field to the pillar, although the pillar is easy to access from the road. The pillar is in very good condition, still looking mostly white. No good views.

Trig is painted white and in good condition, though the views to the W are unremarkable. Park in the layby S of trig and walk up to it in the field, unless you feel immortal and face the maniacal oncoming traffic. Trig is probably easier to find in winter especially at night with all the vegetation around it. My 1960 vintage 0S map (a present) shows 'airfield' 1 mile to the E towards Bawtry. What's this all about?

Easy access pillar on edge of newly-harvested grain field just off the side of the road. Very white painted. Original plug - slightly-indented letters. E sighthole open, others closed. Moderate agricultural views.
