Got to get a high score today. Walked up from Silsden, thigh deep snow in places, no tracks in the snow for much of the walk, only saw two others during the 3 hours I was out. Fantastic views, bright but (very!) chilly, a great short walk.

Easily accessible and visible. I also approached this one from Whetstone Gate along path (feint at times) keeping to northern side of wall. Just one wall crossing needed on nearing pillar. Extremely wet for time of year with evidence of oil in some of the boggy bits. Pillar in good condition apart from the missing plug leaving the centre open to the elements. Glorious views across the purple heathered moorland.

Just a short detour up a steep and heathery slope from the path running from Addingham High Moor to Ilkley brings you to this trig point. Excellent all-round views on a day such as this. Pendle in the west, Buckden Pike in the north, Beamsley Beacon to the east and The Cow & Calf rocks above Ilkley to the south-east. But what an absolutely stupid name for this trig point! Who on earth gave it this name? Over Gate Croft Farm is over a mile away to the north, half way down the hill into Addingham. Why not be totally stupid and name it 'Addingham Village Hall' trig point?! 'Addingham High Moor' is a far more appropriate and sensible name for it.

One of my favourite local trigs (lots of visits both before and after this log). Its Addingham High Moor really - John, Over Gate Croft (and presumably the farm) is about a mile directly north of the trig. On a good day theres a grand view up the lower Wharfedale valley towards Bolton Abbey and over much of the surrounding area. To the NW there is a stile at the field corner and faint paths following either wall at left or right takes you to the main ROW. No cars, on foot.
