First time I've ever driven up a quiet lane to be confronted head on with an army tank. Fortunately, a display model but impressive none the less. Then short walk out to hill fort. Glo-stick in top cap hole.

Parked on Sack Hill near reservoir taking footpath south towards Hill fort entrance then across open fort area to trig point. No great view today, low cloud and rain (Storm Isha)

Impressive hill fort. Approached from north from entrance to training centre or military base with a tank outside the gate. Quite a climb up onto the centre of the fort. Pillar on highest point of ground. Trail from western entrance to fort probably the best route. I took the long way round half of the ramparts. Great views.

Nice easy bag. Parked outside the reservoir and walked around edge of hillfort. Crossed to pillar by memorial bench. Pillar in good condition, but plagued by flies. Hillfort was covered in buttercups, and spectacular views can be enjoyed in most directions.

Parking on the road in a sort of pull in next to footpath near the reservoir, simple walk along ROW to Hill Fort, either over the top or round the ramparts (I took the latter due to a large herd of cows) Pillar good condition, nice place, interesting history, great views, even on a wet day.

Lovely early Sunday morning walk from the reservoir on Sack Hill Road. Fine views of fine landscape. On the walk around the hill fort ramparts I had views of Middle Hill, Scratchbury Hill and Cley Hill (which I always feel has some sort of presence to it). Pillar has FB but no cap. Some cracking but generally in good condition.

Walked from Warminster station, Woodcock Rd, north of Battlesbury Barracks, over railway line and follow FP to top. Very extensive views on a sunny morning, lots of skylarks to be heard and one yellowhammer. Well worth the climb.

Great hill fort with excellent ramparts. Crisp views under cloudless skies, about 15cm of snow on ground. A few minor crack lines but generally in good condition.

Bagged while on 14.5 mile circular walk from Warminster. Situated within Iron Age hillfort. Good views in all directions.

Superb multi-vallate Iron Age hillfort of 25 acres with main entrances to the north-west and east. Lots of Army activity up here (although I was on the right side of the red flags) with soldiers running hither & thither. Grand views, particularly that of Cley Hill. Enjoyed this one; back down the hill to Warminster crossing the railway bridge (how many times have I passed under this bridge over the years?) - first time today in crossing over it. The pillar has some slight cracking to the right of the FB, and one corner is chipped, no cap, and one sight-hole open.

Finally got to revisit this one for the first time since started to log my visits. Probably haven't been to this one since about 2003. Still in the same place! No centre cap. Starting to show serious cracking around bottom corner to right of FB.

Pleasant walk on warm, sunny day on edge of Salisbury Plain over this, Middle, and Scratchbury Hills. Fields all full of wild flowers, and butterflies everywhere - lovely. ***Revisited 21 Dec 2012 to photograph the FB and check condition. Parking ok on wide roadside verge at minor road to NE. Trig located on a public FP with good 360deg views. Pillar has vertical crack on one edge from base to third of way up, then veering horizonal across one face. Cap missing, no plug; 1 sight hole open. There is also a chip from one of the top corners. Consequently marking this trig as Slightly Damaged.

Hillfort site just east of Warminster. Pillar is to south end within rings with very good views to NE round to SE. Minor cracks in concrete render, plug missing with hole unfilled.

Nice view of the downs and into the Plain, where the army were practicing. Two squaddies were inspecting my bike when I got back to Imber Road; not sure if they were admiring it or looking for booby traps.

This pillar is in quite an interesting location, being in the middle of an old iron age fort. It was protected by a fairly mature bullock that thankfully took little interest in me. The pillar is very near to the Imber Range Perimeter Path.
