From the carpark if Falkland we set off uo through the wood, up steps then again steps, through several gates to the foot of East Lomand Hill, then up again to the view point at the top. Views were good. From there we followed the track down the other side to the Trig Point. Trig in good conditiion, although the spider is missing. Followed the track down the otherside to Craigmead carpark and back via Maspie Den to Falkland making it a lovely circular walk.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 19th October 1943 costing £8.1s.6d. Later in 1943 this marker was computed for triangulation as secondary station NT48/14 in the Edinburgh Block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1966. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in September 1984. My first ever recording of a Fife trig pillar. I managed to climb to the true summit of East Lomond without noticing that the trig pillar is actually over 10m (hgt) down the SE slope. I found it very strange that a triangulation station would be of any use with so much line of sight blocked by the hill. By 2004 I was far better informed of trig related matters, and my log of 6/03/2004 explains why line of sight to the north is not required from this station. Back in 1985, this pillar like most others still had a good coat of white paint. First visit 5/04/1985, GRP.
