Parked in the small layby next to the road down to the farm. Walked down the road to the trig field, over the gate and up to the trig.

Went over wooden gate as others had suggested. Not a good idea. Path invisible. Gorse very plentiful and painful. However pillar was easily found. On return journey came back to road over the easy wire fence of trig field. Great views

Don't do what I did. Spotted the pillar from the layby, got over excited and tried to clear the barbed wire fence where there is gorse and nettles. Rather, walk a very short distance southwards, enter the field by the gate and soak up the views over Inverness and the Black Isle. Pillar in good order with all fixings.

Parked motorhome in nearby layby and am sitting there as I write with a cup of tea which Kim made as I took the dog for a leg stretch and bagged the trig. The sun is out, the views of Inverness and beyond are amazing and life is good!

Log #142. Was driving past anyway, so thought it would be rude not to stop. Parked in wide passing place, over wooden part of the fence and followed obvious route along field boundary. Pillar is in good condition, indented plug intact, all sight holes open (2 partially, 1 fully). [ExP-127/MiP-2/Rev-2/BM-10/Other-1]

I came and bagged this whilst caching, the adjacent cache made it extra easy. Good views from up here with views down to Inverness and across to the Black Isle.

Another roadside trig I have never noticed before. Easy access if you approach from the correct way. Good views and a geocache.

Just a quick update. I was bored yesterday so took my 4 year old boy out to show him a trig, and as this one is just uphill from my house in made sense. However since my last visit the local farmer has made access much harder thanks to a brand new barbed wire fence. Future baggers will now need to walk 50m or so further up the road to find a new small wooden section of fence and cross there instead. You'll also now have to get to the trig on the field side of the boundary fence, instead of through the trees as before. Inconvenient, but not the end of the world.

Too nice a day to be stuck indoors, so a quick trip to my local trig was very much in order. I'm thinking of "adopting" this pillar now and giving it a good scrape and fresh coat of whitewash.

Big views over Inverness, Black Isle, Easter Ross and further afield. S7235 built 24th April 1953. Secondary station in Block NH54, Inverness.

Lovely view over the Moray Firth and Inverness. Pillar in good condition although the base is showing signs of wear & tear by the sheep the trig shares its field with.
